A Jacuzzi and A Hot Tub – What Is In The Name?
Today people all over the world take advantage of the Jacuzzi and hot tubs for both relaxation and medicinal purposes. Few though, know the history behind their hot tubs and Jacuzzis, or that there is a connection between the two. Most people assume a Jacuzzi is a hot tub, when in fact, Jacuzzi is the name of the man who invented a jet flow system called Venturi, and a hot tub is just the actual tub itself. Folks in the US commonly refer to the spa method as a Jacuzzi, while those in the UK know them mostly as hot tubs. Both are correct, and both are wrong. Here’s the story:
Near the end of the 60s, Roy Jacuzzi found himself doing fun little experiments creating bubbles using a water jet system, thus leading to his Venturi system invention a few years later. In the Venturi system, air is forced in with the water to create a force flow. Basically, he build a tub, similar to what we use today as a hot tub, therefore his name was associated with the actual tub – the Jacuzzi. Later the Venturi system was incorporated in the hot tub. When this hit the market, sales skyrocketed! And decades later we have created new functions and fancy design additions making the Jacuzzi all the more functional and practical. In any event, Jacuzzi is the actual creator of the tub and then he added the Venturi system.
Most hot tubs today have a specially designed control panel for the user to increase or decrease the amount and intensity of bubbles and pressure. Hot tubs today can seat from two people to an entire group with their own built-in chair of sorts and their own directional jets. Some of the more recent updates and additions are drink holders, cubby holes for towels and even some with entertainment systems build-in. You can enjoy a relaxing hot tub and watch your favorite television shows at the same time, all while sipping a chilled glass of wine!
According to historical data, the basic system was invented in the early 20th century by the Jacuzzi family for medicinal purposes. It is said the first pump system was developed to aid in arthritis pain relief and treatment. Roy Jacuzzi was the mastermind in marketing and providing this family secret, complete with the hydrotherapy benefits of his Venturi water jet system, to the public. When this invention hit international availability, sales and success went above and beyond any expectation.
Thanks to Roy Jacuzzi and his experimental expertise with air pressurized water jets, the world can enjoy both therapeutic hot tub treatments and pure, serene enjoyment from today’s hot tubs.
Most Online Retailers Have Hot Tub Reviews
If you do any type of online shopping for virtually any product, you’ll notice something new that’s cropping up on many different websites, and that’s forums, boards, and chat rooms for customers to meet and discuss. Why do retailers do this? And how can you benefit from checking these online hot tub reviews?
Of course one of the main reasons that retailers use these open boards and forums is as a way of advertising. They know that if one customer raves about or recommends a product, another potential customer is more likely to buy. This is why many online spa dealers allow posts of hot tub reviews. A potential customer may be wavering in their decision to purchase or not, and then they read about how someone else loved this particular brand or model, and presto! Those favorable hot tub reviews lead to a sale.
Obviously this could backfire if some customers leave negative reviews about a product or dealer, but the webmaster or host is no doubt always checking up on the posts that are left. Any negative hot tub reviews are moderated or deleted altogether. This may not seem like fair practice to you, but remember that it is their website and they can remove whatever they choose. If you were selling a product online, you would probably only want positive feedback as well! So it does pay to take some of the positive hot tub reviews with a grain of salt.
You can get a good feel for which models and brands are the best if you really study the hot tub reviews. Those that are not getting many comments may not be the best that there is, whereas those that are getting a lot of positive feedback are making their owners happy for a reason. They may be easier to maintain or more reliable. Many boards and forums allow you to post questions for other owners and ask questions before you purchase or troubleshoot problems after you own one.
So hot tub reviews may not be absolutely reliable, but then again, you do always need to make your own decisions about any purchase you make online, or anywhere else for that matter. Do your homework and decide what’s right for you and your family, and what can fit into your budget, and you’ll be sure to make the right choice.
